We stand in what was in medieval times the Marketplace or “souk”. Since 1531 it converted into what we know now as “Patio de las Comedias”. The name comes from the plays performances that were showed there during the XVIth century. In the back, a viewpoint stands out, next to the San Rafael Tower that still conserves the ancient walls. Inside the tower, we find a cave house, used as headquarters for one of the most ancient brotherhood in the Iznajar´s Holly Week: the Apostles Brotherhood (Hermandad de los Apóstoles).
The Comedy Courtyard won in many ocasions the first award in the Balconies and Corners´ Competition, organized by the Subbetic Comonwealth and the Provincial Council of Cordoba.
